Securing the Sensor Fabric
Q3 2024 · 20 pages

Sensors are the soft underbelly of every industrial deployment. RFID readers, cameras, environmental sensors — most of them shipped with default passwords, unencrypted communications, and no path to firmware updates.

This paper covers the zero-trust patterns we apply to the Innfini sensor fabric — identity, encryption, attestation, fleet rotation, and incident response. It's the practitioner's guide we wish we'd had three years ago.

For security architects

The paper is technical. It covers mTLS certificate rotation at edge scale, hardware attestation for gateway devices, signed model deployment, and runtime integrity monitoring.

It also covers the trade-offs we explicitly made — what we chose not to enforce, where we accept residual risk, and how we communicate that risk to customers.
